The natural, unspoiled beauty of Alaska is a popular destination for RV travelers, and exploring the Inside Passage, the southern stretch of the state where Juneau is located, is particularly easy and accessible to those traveling from the United States and southern Canada. If you're planning a sightseeing, hiking or kayaking expedition to the area and want to spend a few days--or longer--in Juneau, there are several RV parks in and around the city from which to choose.

Spruce Meadow RV Park

Spruce Meadow RV Park is located just a few miles from the area's main attractions such as the Mendenhall Glacier, the University of Alaska Juneau and the Macaulay Fish Hatchery. The park has 47 full-service sites with water, sewer and power hookups, as well as free Wi-Fi and limited cable service. On the property you also will find clean restrooms with showers, laundry facilities and vending machines. The Spruce Meadow RV Park is 14 miles from downtown Juneau, and a bus that stops just outside the park will take you there. Pets are welcome, and there is a dog park for your furry friends.

Eagle Beach State Recreation Area

There is an RV park located within Eagle Beach State Recreation Area that is a popular spot for RVers staying near Juneau. RVs up to 35 feet are allowed at the campground for a stay of up to seven days. There is an extensive trail system within the 600-acre recreation area, providing excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and wildlife viewing. The Eagle and Herbert Rivers come together at the Eagle Beach State Recreation Area, so the saltwater confluence is great for kayaking, fishing and whale watching.

Auke Bay RV Park

Many visitors to Juneau choose to stay at Auke Bay RV Park, which is located less than a mile from the University of Alaska Juneau. The park offers 31 sites, 23 of which have full hookups, and it is open year-round for RVs up to 45-feet long. Mountains rise around the dramatic landscape, and Auke Bay stretches in front of the park. There is a grocery store within walking distance, and local buses stop nearby, making it easy to explore the whole region from your base at Auke Bay RV Park.
