Tizley's Europub
Tizley's Europub is a family-friendly restaurant that is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant's specialty is authentic Northern European fare with a menu that emphasizes classic German cuisine but is also inspired by dishes from Scandinavia, Ireland and England. There is a full bar offering a wide selection of import brews, single-malt scotches, and wines by the glass and bottle. Before you dig into the big stuff, you can sample an assortment of appetizers including hot Bavarian pretzels, mixed sausage plates, seared sauerkraut, German potato salad, spaetzle and kartoffelsuppe (a.k.a. potato soup). The sandwich menu ranges from German inspirations like Uli's bratwurst between two slices of Norwegian black bread and the schnitzel sandwich on German rye to more American-style items like bacon Swiss burgers, chicken sandwiches and BLTs. If that doesn't fill you up, Tizley's offers entrees like Schweinshaxe mit Kraut, which is pork shank braised with beer and kraut, and Kassler Ripchen, pork chops smoked locally and steamed with (you guessed it) beer and kraut. But for many, the main event will be a variety of Bavarian schnitzels including hunter-style jaegerschnitzel, seaborne sole schnitzel and wienerschnitzel. For those who like their schnitzel with a side of entertainment, the restaurant hosts music events on the weekends and open mike nights on Wednesdays.

Feierabend
Feierabend, a German-style restaurant and tavern, is located in Seattle, which is a little over 10 miles by ferry from Kitsap County. The gastropub's specialty is traditional German cuisine with a Pacific Northwest flair as well as a prideful passion for its wide selection of German beer on tap--or "bier" as owner Chris Navarra prefers to spell it. In addition to plowing the froth off a glass of bier, you can find a full menu of entrees and appetizers. Starters include potato pancakes with homemade apple sauce, veal sausage with curry ketchup, bread dumplings in mushroom sauce, German cucumber salad and Bavarian pretzels served with sweet-hot mustard and Obatzter, which is a spicy cream cheese. For a more fulfilling dining experience, choose dishes like grilled pork and beef bratwurst with sauerkraut or homemade spaetzle topped with cheese and onion butter sauce. Feierabend is open daily for lunch and dinner. Not surprising for a place that takes so much pride in its bier, no minors are allowed.

Szmania's Restaurant
Found just a little over an hour from the town of Bremerton in Kitsap County, Szmania's Restaurant offers burgers, linguini and jambalaya, but its heart is still German. Started by Dusseldorf native Ludger Szmania and his wife Julie in 1990, this colorful eatery serves lunch and dinner but also offers early bird and holiday specials. The lunch menu includes German fare like bratwurst, sauerbraten and schnitzel with classic sides including red cabbage and cheese spaetzle. Later in the day, the dinner menu tempts your tummy with Alsatian muenster cheese tarts, house-smoked salmon and beet salad. Beyond the starters, you can choose from German entrees like "sauerkraut a la Szmania's" and wienerschnitzel, not to mention a broad assortment of non-German dishes such as roasted fallow deer, stuffed quail, grilled mahi mahi, pork shank and kobe beef hanger steak. To wash it all down, Szmania's pours a wide variety of imported German brews and wines, plus mixological delights like the pomegranate-flavored pomito and the bittersweet tuaca lemondrop.
