Mt. Carmel is a small community in Western Kentucky that is less than 20 minutes away from Nortonville Lake. This body of water provides opportunities for fishing and boating. Mt. Carmel is also approximately 30 miles away from Pennyrile Forest State Park. This park provides facilities for camping and hiking. After a long day of recreational activities, be sure to whet your appetite at one of the restaurants in the Mt. Carmel area.

Prairie Rose Cafe

Prairie Rose Cafe in White Plains, approximately five minutes north of Mt. Carmel, provides down-home American cuisine that will energize you after hiking or cycling at Pennyrile State Forest. Prairie Rose Cafe has a charming, country atmosphere and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Tuesday through Sunday; however, the restaurant is closed for dinner on Sundays. Prairie Rose Cafe's menu includes breakfast selections such as sausage biscuit and cheese omelet, as well as lunch and dinner options that includes a bacon cheeseburger, catfish and a B.L.T. The dessert portion of the menu includes hot fudge cake and ice cream sundae. Prairie Rose Cafe also has karaoke nights on Friday and Saturday nights.
