Keystone is a town near the western end of South Dakota, near the border with Wyoming. The town depends on the surrounding communities to provide RV parks and resorts and there are several locations available that feature beautiful views of the natural surroundings and immediate access to the trails of the region.

Rafter J Bar Ranch

Rafter J Bar Ranch sits on 170 acres in the Black Hills of South Dakota, 12 miles outside of Keystone. The park has big rig accessible sites, and guests may choose from a more isolated spot or close proximity to the park activities. Wi-Fi and satellite television are available in some areas. Guests may use the dump station, depend upon the security staff and purchase propane on-site. The ranch hosts wagon rides and chuckwagon suppers and has a pool and hot tub. The ranch land abuts Black Hills National Forest, providing back country access. George Mickelson Hiking and Biking Trail is adjacent, and the ranch offers mountain bike rentals.

In Rapid City--21 miles north of Keystone--Happy Holiday provides 258 sites and can handle big rigs. Guests can expect to find pull through sites and full hookups with 20/30/50-amp electric, complimentary high-speed wireless Internet and covered patios including picnic tables and barbecue grills. Satellite/cable television is available, along with car rentals and propane and gas for sale on-site. The resort has a pool, spa and basketball court for outdoor recreation and a bar, arcade and game room for indoors. For a bigger adventure, climb, hike and tour the caves of Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns, only 14 miles from the resort.

Lazy J RV Park & Campground

A stay at the Lazy J comes complete with the scenery of the Black Hills. Wi-Fi and local television are available and there are open sky areas for improved satellite reception. The RV portion of the campground has 60 pull-through sites and full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electric. A dog walking area is provided. Take it easy and relax in the heated pool or strap on a day pack and head out on foot. The park is located in the middle of hiking and backwoods trail systems that crisscross the area and is only 30 miles from Custer State Park. Dedicated hikers can attempt to reach the summit of Harney Peak, while others may try rock climbing or the mountain bike trails.
