RV Campgrounds Near Dahlgren, Virginia
Dahlgren, Virginia is a small community in King George County. Dahlgren is near the Northern Neck George Washington Birthplace American Viticultural Area. Dahlgren is also near the Potomac River where visitors can sail, kayak and fish. The Northern Neck Wine Trail offers visitors a self-guided car or bicycle tour of the region's wineries. RV travelers to the region have several options for campgrounds in the Dahlgren area.

Aquia Pines Camp Resort

Aquia Pines offers sites for RVs of most sizes, with partial or full hookups. Hookups include 50-amp electric, water, sewer, cable TV and Wi-Fi. The park has hot showers, bathrooms, a guest room, laundry, picnic tables and barbecue grills. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Aquia is close to Washington D.C. and the memorials at the Mall. The Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields are within a half hour's drive from the campground.

Westmoreland State Park

Westmoreland State Park offers RV visitors primitive and hookup sites within the state park system. Tent sites are available as well. All guests may use the bathrooms and showers, water spigots, picnic areas, barbecues, and dump station. The park has hiking trails, including a trail that takes guests to the Horsehead's Cliffs which have a view of the Potomac River. The park has mountain-bike trails, and boat-launch ramps. Pets are welcome but must be leashed while in the park. The Potomac River affords opportunities for kayak-touring, fishing and swimming. The Caledon Nature Area is within a half hour's drive and visitors can view bald eagles in their natural habitat.

Pohick Bay Regional Park

Visitors to the Dahlgren region can find camping and RV sites at the Pohick Bay Regional Park. There are opportunities for kayak-touring, fishing, swimming, and canoeing from the three access areas to the Potomac River. In addition to the watersports the park offers, there are hiking trails at Pohick Bay. There are sites that include 30- or 50-amp electric, and all guests can use the comfort stations which have bathrooms, showers, dishwashing facilities and fresh water sources. Pets are allowed if leashed. Reservations for the park can be made online at the Pohick Bay Website.
