Rockford is one of the largest cities in Illinois that is outside of the Chicagoland area. As a result, many dining choices are available in the town. Known as "The Forest City," Rockford has a number of forests and parks throughout the area. When dining in the Rockford area, don't forget to take a walk along the Rock River.

Kuma's Asian Bistro

Kuma's Asian Bistro is located just a couple blocks east of the Riverfront Park. Before or after your meal, walk over to the park to experience the scenic beauty of the Rock River in downtown Rockford. Kuma's specializes in Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine. They're known in Rockford as the best spot in town for fresh sushi. The prices are affordable too, about $15 per person as of 2010. Kuma's also is one of the best date spots in Rockford, offering a romantic atmosphere of dim lighting and posh furniture. During the summertime, Kuma's offers outdoor seating.

Wong Wong

A short walk from the Searls Park Prairie Nature Preserve, Wong Wong Chinese Restaurant is one of easiest and cheapest takeout options in Rockford. Wong Wong doesn't accept credit cards, but you shouldn't pay more than $10 per person (as of 2010). A favorite at Wong Wong is the Egg Foo Young.

Imperial Palace

If you're looking for a restaurant that the whole family will enjoy, Imperial Palace is the place to go. Imperial Palace blends American dishes like chips and dip into their Asian menu. If you dine in, you'll receive a complimentary crab rangoon and egg drop soup. After lunch or dinner, take a stroll through Dahlquist Park and Twin Sister Hills Park, located just outside the restaurant.
