The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota form the core of the "16th largest metropolitan area in the United States with over 3.5 million residents," according to the U.S. Census Bureau. A diverse city of many different cultures and people, Minneapolis also is home to scores of various restaurants. According to the restaurant listing service Twin Cities Dining Guide, there are over 250 Mexican restaurants in the Twin City metropolitan area, each offering its guests a different dining experience with its own unique twist of Mexican cuisine.

Picosa

Located on the Mississippi River with views of Downtown Minneapolis, Picosa has diverse menu offerings with ample choices. The house burger, the Picosa Burger, features a half pound beef patty with white cheddar, jalapenos and guacamole served with mariquitas (plantain chips). Picosa offers specials almost every evening. Tuesday nights feature a build-your-own taco bar. Happy hour specials on beer, wine and cocktails are available each weekday. For entertainment, Picosa features live Latin jazz each Tuesday evening, a DJ on Wednesday nights, and live bands on Friday and Saturday evenings. A local dance studio offers free salsa lessons at Picosa three times per week.

Pancheros Mexican Grill

Pancheros Mexican Grill is a casual, quick service chain restaurant with over 50 U.S. locations. The menu choices include burritos, burrito bowls, salads, tacos and quesadillas. Guests have their choice of either grilled or marinated steak, pork, chicken or vegetables in each menu item. Miniature quesadillas and tacos are available for kids meals. Pancheros makes all of its tortillas from scratch each day. Indoor and seasonal outdoor seating is available at this location.

Barrio Tequila Bar

Barrio Tequila Bar is conveniently located on the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis. Barrio is much more than just a tequila bar, offering a wide variety of lunch and dinner menu items. The lunch menu consists of small and large plate entrees with offerings such as the breaded skirt steak sandwich and steamed mahi mahi served in a banana leaf. Small dinner plates consist of items such as crab empanadas and tequila cured salmon. Large plate offerings include Oaxaca-style baby back ribs and seared tuna. Large plate entrees also are available. Happy hour specials are available Monday through Friday and include discounted tacos and enchiladas with various drink specials. Barrio has a second location just across the Mississippi river in neighboring St Paul.
