Campgrounds Near Miami, Florida
The south-Florida city of Miami has many urban attractions, such as the professional sporting teams--the Dolphins, Marlins and Heat. The beaches make Miami a popular vacation and getaway destination for those seeking subtropical sun and surf. Outdoor enthusiasts visiting the Miami region can explore the Everglades National Park, sea-kayak the coast, and find surfing along the beaches of south Florida. Several options for campgrounds in the Miami area are available.

Miami Everglades Campground

Miami Everglades Campground is a privately owned and operated campground with sites for RVs and tent campers. RV sites have a full range of hook-ups (water, sewer, and 30- or 50-amp electric). and tent sites have water access and level tent areas. Amenities at the campground include shady sites, swimming pool, showers and bathrooms, and laundry for guest use. Pets are allowed, if leashed. The Miami Zoo, Miami Seaquarium, and the Monkey Jungle are within 30 minutes of the campground. Everglades National Park is an hour's drive (traffic depending) from the campground.

Everglades National Park

The subtropical Everglades National Park offers campers and visitors RV sites and tent camping. There are two front-country campgrounds at Everglades National Park (ENP)--the Long Pine Key Campground and the Flamingo Campground. Both can accommodate RV and tents. The campgrounds are open year-round, but campers are cautioned to keep track of weather conditions during the wet-season (May through November.) There are toilets and showers at the campgrounds for guest use. Pets must be leashed at all times. The Everglades offers bird watchers chances at viewing many rare and endangered species, and wildlife includes alligators, the rare Florida Panther, manatees, and river otters and coatis. Sea kayakers can explore the swamps and bayous, and hikers can take ranger-led walks.

Yacht Haven Park and Marina

Yacht Haven Park and Marina offers water sports enthusiasts a convenient location for sea-kayaking, sailing or boating. There are 20 acres of tropical forest at the campground. RV sites come with 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hook-ups. There are showers and bathrooms on the grounds, as well as dump station and laundry facilities. Kayakers can paddle the Intercoastal Waterway off the south fork of the New River and look for manatees. Locate fishing charters in the harbor.
