My Carino's creates home-cooked Italian food with an American twist. Located near the Lakewood Cultural Center, My Carino's is known for its weekly specials; prices are moderate. Every Wednesday, all bottles of wine enjoyed with your meal are half-price. One of the favorites from the menu is the 16-layer lasagna made with red sauce. Another specialty is the skilletini, which is spaghetti, marinara and green peppers served in a sizzling skillet. My Carino's also caters both large and small events.

You can find Virgilio's Pizzeria on Alameda Avenue next to King Soopers. The owner, Virgilio, first immigrated to New York in 1966. While there, he perfected his Italian cooking under the direction of his mother. Virgilio's makes its pizzas the old Roman way -- in brick ovens. Customer favorites include the house pizza, made with ricotta cheese, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, sausage and garlic. Virgilio's offers seating, take out and delivery.

Johnny's New York Pizza
