Sawnee Campground
Sawnee is located at the bottom end of Lake Lanier near Buford Dam. The facility offers 44 sites with electrical and water hookups, and 11 sites with no hookups. Within the campground are public restrooms and showers, boat ramps, a swimming beach, playgrounds and great spots for fishing. Nearby, just south of the dam, is a great place on the Chattahoochee River for scenic float trips by tube, kayak or canoe.

Bald Ridge Creek
A bit further north on the western edge of Lake Lanier is Bald Ridge Creek. This campground offers 82 sites, all with electric and water hookups. Also on the premises are public restrooms and showers, boat ramps, playgrounds, a swimming beach and good fishing spots. This area is a bit more remote and is perfect if you want to be a bit farther out from the city and enjoy a more wilderness experience.

Shady Grove Park
Go just a bit farther north along the shore of Lake Lanier and you will come to Shady Grove Park. This is the closest campground in Forsyth County to the southern Appalachians, and many travelers stay here while exploring Red Top Mountain State Park or enjoying local whitewater paddling. The park boasts 126 sites, 76 of which have 30-amp electrical and water hookups. There are also public restrooms, a swimming beach and boat ramps for campers' use.
