Within an hour drive of New York City and about 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Ocean County, New Jersey is a popular destination because of its beaches along the Jersey Shore and its location as a gateway to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. The shore lures those looking to go surfing, ocean kayaking or sailing, and fishing. The Pine Barrens, one of the largest pieces of protected wild-land along the East Coast, offers hiking and trails for biking. RV travelers have several options for campgrounds within Ocean County.

Tip Tam Camping Resort

The Tip Tam offers a full range of services and RVs of most sizes can be accommodated. Hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water, sewer and cable TV with HBO. Limited Wi-Fi is available throughout the park. Pets are allowed if leashed. Tip Tam offers basketball, bocce and shuffleboard, hot showers, private toilets, picnic areas and barbecue grills. The Pine Barrens' hiking and mountain biking opportunities are 25 miles away. The Tip Tam offers AAA discounts.

Indian Rock Campground

Indian Rock Campground offers a year round RV park, with limited services in the winter (RVs need to be self-contained). Long-term rates can be negotiated by calling management prior to arrival. Indian Rock has sites with full or partial hookups and sites for tents. Pets are allowed but must remain leashed and not go into the pool or picnic areas. Showers and bathrooms and a laundry are available. Beaches are within a 15-minute drive, depending on traffic, and the Pine Barrens are a 30-mile drive.

Baker's Acres Campground

Baker's Acres sits on 60 acres of laurel and forest land near the New Jersey Pinelands. It is open seasonally between May 1 and November 1 each year. RVs of most sizes can be accommodated. Site hookups include water, sewer and electric (30- or 50-amp, call for availability.) Sewer sites do not have cable TV, but non-sewer sites do. Due to gypsy moth infestation, outside firewood is no longer allowed at Baker's Acres. Firewood is for sale at the campground. Pets are allowed but must be leashed. Nearby Barnegat Bay has crabbing and fishing, as well as swimming and boating opportunities.
