Salida is in the "Heart of the Rockies" and has ample outdoor recreational opportunities. The town has easy access to the Arkansas River for fishing and rafting and it is close to several 14,000-foot mountains (14ers), hiking trails, biking trails and hunting areas. Salida is also close to several ski resorts, ghost towns, four wheel drive roads, and the town has shopping and dining.

Four Seasons RV Resort

This RV park has 67 sites and is close to the Salida Hot Springs and a golf course. It has 14 large pull-through sites and several winterized sites. The park has laundry facilities, a recreation room, TV room, kitchen, patios and a common area on the Arkansas River. The park has fishing and swimming on the Arkansas River and the Royal Gorge and Great Sand Dunes National Monument are within an hour drive.

Monarch Spur RV Campground

Located 11 miles west of downtown Salida, this park sits at over 8,000 feet in elevation. It is in the San Isabel National Forest and has access to 14ers, hiking trails, biking trails and a trout stream. Hiking and biking the trails around the park often lead to encounters with deer and elk, and the park is only 7 miles from the Monarch Ski Area. It has 60 foot pull-through sites with access to laundry facilities, horseshoe pits, wireless Internet and a store. The sites have hookups for water, sewer and 20, 30 and 50 amps.

Chalk Creek Campground

Located 17 miles from downtown Salida, this park has RV sites, tent sites and cabins. Sites are shaded and some have waterfront access to Chalk Creek. The park has a camp store, recreation room, playground, showers, laundry facilities and frequent community gatherings. Sites in the lower campground have hookups for 30, 50 and 100 amps, and the sites in the upper campground have hookups for water, sewer, 30, 50 and 100 amps.
