Approximately 72 miles north of Dayton and 78 miles south of Toledo, Lima has a history centered around the Shawnee Indians, the railroad and the oil industry. Today, Lima is home to the Lima Symphony Orchestra, the University of Northwestern Ohio, the Lincoln Park Railway Exhibit and the Allen County Museum. The area boasts local parks and the Ottawa River Corridor with a paved trail for hiking, biking and roller skating.

Ottawa Metro Park

Part of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, Ottawa Metro Park is situated on 287 acres, including the 89-acre Lima Lake. Open mid-April through mid-October, the campground has 30 sites with 50-amp full hookups and has eight pull-though spaces. It features restrooms with showers, a dump station, paved sites with a picnic table and fire ring. Swimming at the 450-foot beach that features a water fountain, water trampoline, slip-n-slide and floating slide is a popular family activity, while fishing and boating on Lima Lake, hiking, biking and walking along the paved trails, and playing Frisbee golf or volleyball are popular activities for all visitors.

Sun Valley Family Campground

Located just a short 10-minute drive southwest from Lima, Sun Valley Family Campground is located in nearby Harrod. It has 242 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups and is situated on more than 40 acres. It features restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, a 1-acre swimming pool with water slides, two stocked fishing quarries, and shuffleboard and basketball courts.

Twin Lakes Park Family Campground

Twin Lakes Park is situated on more than 30-acres and is 26 minutes northeast of Lima. The park has 85 sites with 20-, 30- or 50-amp full hookups. It features restrooms with showers, free Wi-Fi Internet, a playground, shuffleboard and basketball courts, and sand volleyball. Boating and fishing in the 13-acre lake stocked with bass, bluegill, and others, and swimming in their 3-acre lake with a 1,000 foot sand beach are popular activities for visitors of all ages. Twin Lakes Park is open all year, but limited facilities during the winter season begin November 1.
