Cheesier than most RV camping sites--in a good way--Tillamook, Oregon, is internationally renown for its famous cheddar cheese. With a coastal setting, driving U.S. 101 has a view of the Ocean and spires of off-short rocks on one side, rolling, green grass hillsides and forests on the other. With ocean fishing charters, crabbing and clamming from its harbor, hiking along the coast or into the mountains, tours of the Tillamook Dairy Cooperative and tranquil setting, Tillamook is a genuinely nice place to set up camp on a coastal RV trip.

Netarts Bay Marina and RV Park

Full service and amenities are attached to each of the 83 campsites at Netarts. The Marina and Campground has water, sewer, power (30 and 50 amp), telecommunications hookups, free Wi-fi high speed Internet access and fire rings at the sites. There is a restaurant on site, boat rental, crabbing charter, dump station and communal shower and bathroom facilities. Open all year, reservations are recommended. The website has a live camera with views of the property and environs.

Pleasant Valley RV Park

A forest-like setting at Pleasant Valley RV Park shades all spots with towering pines. Each of the campsites has picnic table, fire-ring, cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi Internet access, 30- and 50-amp power, water and waste connections. The campground has a laundry, mini-mart, children's playground and access to hiking. There is also an indoor room with tables and full kitchen for groups. The park is open all year.

Big Sprice RV Park

Called a "fishing campground," this older park can accommodate larger RVs but is a better fit for Class B and Class C. Easy access to ocean fishing, fresh oysters and the town, Big Spruce has limited facilities but is priced accordingly. For the RV camper passing through Tillamook for tours and fishing, this might be an economical short-stay option. The park is open all year and has 30-amp hookups.

Tillamook Bay City RV Park

Offering dedicated tent camping areas as well as 30 RV spaces, the Tillamook Bay City RV Park is an small property with full services. RV hookups include 30- and 50-amp service, level pull-through RV sites--critical for Class A motorhomes--cable TV, water and sewer connections. The tent area is segregated from the RV sites with individual fire rings and tables and central potable water. The campground has showers, toilets, laundry and is within walking distance of food and supplies. The park is open all year.
