RV Parks in Frederick County, Maryland

RV Parks in Frederick County, Maryland
Frederick County makes for a logical central base for RV campers to explore the "panhandle" region of Maryland. The city of Frederick offers a full range of shops and services, and sits at the center of a major network of highways. All around Frederick are the outdoor attractions of places like the Frederick Municipal Forest, Sugarloaf Mountain, Harper's Ferry and the Potomac River, as well as the battlefield park of Antietam. When the camping trip is over, that same network of highways makes it easy to put your RV on the road and start your trip home.

Cunningham Falls State Park

Set in the Catoctin Mountains and known for its almost 80-foot waterfall, Cunningham Falls State Park is about 10 miles north of Frederick. The park offers two campgrounds, the Houck and Manor areas, both of which have a mix of tent and RV sites. Rental cabins are also available. The RV sites have only electrical hook-ups. Every camp site has a lantern post, fire ring and picnic table, and both campgrounds have bath houses. Pets are permitted at the Manor camping area, but they must be kept on a leash. The state park has a boat ramp, as well as fishing and swimming areas in its creeks and lake. There are also hiking trails and a playground.
