Elkhart Lake is north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, between Lake Winnebago and Lake Michigan. The area is packed with campgrounds and RV parks. Many of the RV parks offer campers numerous acres of natural setting to enjoy without having to leave the grounds. Whether you prefer additional activities for the family or a site that places you inside a state forest, there are several unique options from which to choose.

Westward Ho Camp Resort

Westward Ho Camp Resort is less than 4 miles outside of Elkhart Lake. The resort has 103 acres of land and hosts seasonal activities and themed weekends for family entertainment. Full hookups and a dump station are available, and propane is sold on site. Travelers can select from daily, weekly or seasonal rates. The resort has three heated swimming pools, mini-golf, basketball, volleyball and baseball areas. This location is a short drive--less than 20 miles--from Kettle Moraine State Forest, where the Ice Age Trail offers 31 scenic miles of forest pathway. Kettle Moraine has 132 miles of trails for hiking and exploration.

Hoeft's Resort & Campground

At Hoeft's Resort--14 miles from Elkhart Lake--guests can request a lakefront, peninsula, wooded or grassy campsite. Seasonal rates and full hookups are available, and the park provides an RV dump station. The camp store carries sundries and movie rentals, and firewood is sold on site. A stay at the resort includes access to a sandy beach on Crooked Lake, where guests can rent several types of boats. Kids will appreciate the basketball and horseshoes areas, playground and swimming in the lake.

Long Lake Recreation Area

Kettle Moraine State Forest is 23 miles south of Elkhart Lake and includes the Long Lake Recreation Area, where travelers can find electric sites, flush toilets and showers. Reservations are recommended for most of the season. The campground provides a dump station, recycling and garbage station. The park has a boat launch and fishing pier. A pet area, beach access and picnic areas also are available. Visitors have the added advantage of being situated in the heart of the forest, where one surfaced trail and two off-road biking trails are provided for outdoor enthusiasts.
