Monteagle Mountain is the highest point between Chicago and Miami. It is halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee, directly off Interstate 24, a short distance from shops, theatre, music and other urban delights. Monteagle has many restaurants owned by local folks, with food ranging from down home to gourmet cooking. The first weekend in August is the Annual Monteagle Mountain Market for the Arts and Crafts. Nearby are Prentice-Cooper State Forest and South Cumberland Recreation Area, where you can hike, ride horses, camp, rock climb, play recreational sports and visit a museum.

The Cottages at Bear Hollow

The Bear Hollow Cottages has a unique personality, with every cottage named after "famous" bears. Each cabin has a coffeemaker, microwave, satellite television, DVD, Internet, linens, table settings and full-sized refrigerator. The complex has a pool, pond and gazebo. Pets are allowed for non-refundable fee. Nearby attractions include waterfalls and a dinner theatre.

American Heritage Cabin

American Heritage Cabin offers 14 rustic log cabins, each with a hot tub, wood-burning fireplace, full kitchen, king or queen bed, television and front porch. One- and two-bedroom cabins are available and sleep four to six people. Pets are not allowed. Nearby attractions include the South Cumberland Park, Ruby Falls and the Tennessee Williams Center.

The two Monteagle Mountain Cabins come with two bedrooms, linens, cable and satellite television, grill, full kitchen, and a hot tub on the back porch. There is no telephone service, so bring your cell phone. Attractions nearby include Ruby Falls, Tennessee Aquarium and Nashville Zoo. Pets are not allowed.
