Clearwater, Florida Area Campgrounds
The beachside city of Clearwater is on the west coast of Florida close to Tampa. Its pristine, white-sand beaches lining the Gulf of Mexico draw travelers to the area year after year. Visitors can enjoy plenty of outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, boating and shelling, with a wealth of campsites available in the area to choose from. The city is close to several state parks offering an abundance of opportunities to enjoy natural Florida.

Caladesi Island State Park

Caladesi Island State Park in Dunedin is located approximately 12 miles north of Clearwater. The park is located on an island off the shores of Honeymoon Island State Park. Visitors can catch the Caladesi Ferry from within Honeymoon Island State Park and journey across the water a short distance to the park. Visitors arriving by boat can camp in their boats docked at one of the park's 108 slips offering electric and water. Boaters also can anchor offshore and spend the night. The park has a marina, concession stand, gift shop, playground, bathroom, showers and picnic area, with pets accepted. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy renting canoes, hiking the trails or beaches, and anglers can surf fish from the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.

Fort DeSoto Park

Operated by Pinellas County, Fort DeSoto Park is its largest park consisting of five islands that are interconnected and 1,136 acres of pristine beaches situated on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. Guests can visit the remnants of the historic Fort DeSoto and museum located in the park. There are 238 sites offering water, electric, picnic table and grill. The park has a camp store, playground, picnic area with grills, laundry facility, restrooms, showers and concession stand. Pets are allowed, and there is a dog park and beach. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the 7 miles of waterfront for hiking, shelling or surf fishing. Boaters can utilize the park's boat-launching facility and fish the Tampa Bay or the Gulf of Mexico. Nature and canoe trails are located in the park. The park is located approximately 23 miles south of Clearwater.

Caladesi RV Park

The Caladesi RV Park is located approximately 6 miles north of Clearwater. The park offers 86 full hookup sites, 20/30/50 amps, phone and modem hookups and cable TV. Maximum RV length is 40 feet. The campsites are shaded with oaks and the park is open year-round. There is a dump station, heated pool, laundry facility and bathrooms on site. Honeymoon Island State Park and Caladesi State Park are approximately 6 miles from the park, where fishing, boating, hiking and wildlife opportunities are plentiful. Situated adjacent to the park is the 37-mile Pinellas Trail for hiking, biking and enjoying nature.
