Las Vegas is known for it's high rise luxury hotels and 24-hour casinos. However, Las Vegas is also known for many outdoor recreational opportunities. Mountain biking, hiking and archaeological discovery awaits visitors at Red Rock Canyon, just 30 minutes north of Las Vegas. Valley of Fire State Park is a 55 mile drive west and offers beautiful views of the red sandstone formations. After a day of exploring the Las Vegas area, many restaurants await you. Several Persian restaurants serve fare from quick kabobs to long dinners over traditional Iranian (Persian) food. In the city of many choices, traditional Persian food can be an exotic dining experience.

Habib's Persian Cuisine

Habib's Persian Cuisine features food from Iran. Hummus appetizers and Tabuli salad are a treat for starters. Traditional Persian entrees are served on the dinner menu. Try exotic dishes such as chelo kabob soltani, a combination of char-broiled filet mignon, ground filet mignon and tomato rice. Or try one of their daily specials such as khoresht bademjan, a dish prepared with beef, eggplant, special tomato sauce and rice. A wine list is available to compliment your dinner. Persian ice cream and Turkish coffee for dessert round out the menu. Lunch is served Monday to Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.Dinner is served Monday to Saturday, 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe & Hookah Lounge

Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe & Hookah Lounge opened in 1988 and was designed as a Persian deli with only a few tables available. The Cafe has earned many awards including the Restaurateur of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association. Starters range from flaming saganaki, which is kefaloyri cheese flambeed with Bacardi rum and stuffed in grape leaves. Baked kibbee platte, certified angus beef with pine nuts, cracked wheat and imported spices, are served for dinner along with dishes such as grilled salmon gyros. Speciality coffees and cordials are also served. The adjacent Hookah Lounge offers speciality drinks and exotic hookah flavors for smoking. The Cafe is open daily, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. The Hookah Lounge is open 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Kabob Express

The Kabob Express serves traditional grilled kabobs using old world recipes. From beef kabobs to chicken chicken kabobs, all plates are served with rice, salad and bread. The Kabob Express salads are tossed with fresh herbs. The Kabob Express is open Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
