Amarillo is smack in the middle of the Texas Panhandle in the northern part of the state and directly on Interstate 40. Amarillo is within 25 miles of Palo Duro Canyon State Park, also known as "The Grand Canyon of Texas." The park has nearly 30,000 acres of hiking and mountain biking trails to choose from and also makes for an excellent scenic drive. Amarillo has several RV parks for brief or extended stays.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park

Amarillo Ranch is on I-40 within the city limits and adjacent to Splash Amarillo Water Park. This RV park has 140 full-service sites with 65 pull-throughs and 75 back-in pads that can accommodate any size vehicle. Sites are equipped with 50 amp electrical systems, broadband Internet and cable television access. Amenities include an indoor pool, gift shop, barbecue grills and a clubhouse with a fireplace, kitchen and separate rooms for private gatherings. Complimentary coffee and donuts are served daily. Shower and laundry facilities are available, as are Finnish style sauna and steam rooms for the adults. The park is fenced and well-lit at night.

Fort Amarillo RV Park and Resort

Fort Amarillo has a western-style theme and is located approximately 7 miles from downtown. The grounds include a stream-fed fishing pond, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, a putting green, indoor pool, outdoor hot tub and large open green space for group activities. The park has over 200 pull-in sites, a dump station and propane available. The recreation hall is available for events and the on-site mercantile offers gifts, local foods and sundries. The park is near several shopping, dining and entertainment venues.

The Oasis RV Resort and Service Center

The Oasis was designed with the larger rigs in mind and is fully paved with extra-wide driveways. A choice of 20, 30 and 50 amp electricity is available and sites include cable television and Wi-Fi. Park amenities include an on-site RV washing station and service technician to address select repair problems. Three comfort centers have private bath facilities, complimentary laundry services and vending machines. A large recreation room with fireplace is also on site, as are an exercise room, swimming pool, adults-only spa, seasonal concession stand and a restaurant that offers daily breakfast and dinner. Lunch is served on the weekends and delivery is available to RV sites.
