Northern Ohio is home to the popular Cedar Point Amusement Park as well as the city of Cleveland. Campers in the area can enjoy a vacation filled with them- park attractions, museum visits or more relaxing pasttimes such as fishing and golfing. Campground resorts throughout the area offer plentiful options for tent campers and RV campers alike.

Camper Village at Cedar Point

Camper Village at Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, Ohio. Theme park enthusiasts will find this to be the best choice for camping in northern Ohio as it provides easy access to the Cedar Point Amusement Park, Cedar Point Beach, Soak City and Challenge Park. Visitors to the site receive complimentary Cedar Point parking and shuttle service. Packages are available that include park admission and special early entry into the parks as well. This site can accommodate campers and RVs, but does not allow tent camping. Sites are available with electricity, water, sewer and cable or electricity only. Amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities and a dump station. An outdoor pool, outdoor whirlpool spa and game room are located on site as well. Pets are permitted.

Stony Ridge KOA

The Stony Ridge KOA is located just outside of Stony Ridge, Ohio. Nearby attractions include the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art and numerous opportunities for antiquing. Tent camping, RV sites and cabins all are available here. RV campers will find both pull-through and back-in sites as well as 30/50 amp service, cable and concrete patios. Tent camping is available both with and without water and electric. A camp store is located on site as well a pool, playground, laundry facilities and restrooms. Mini-golf, bike rentals and free Saturday hayrides round out the available activities. Rates vary with the site type and location as well as the time of year. Visitors can find current rates and availability on the website.

Heritage Hills Campground

Heritage Hills Campground, open from May 1 through Oct. 1, is located in Thompson, Ohio. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Lake Farmpark, and the Great Lakes Science Center are located in nearby Cleveland. Both tent and RV sites are available. Visitors will find the convenience of sewer hookups, 50-amp service and pull-through sites. Restrooms,barbecue facilities, arcade games and a playground are among the amenities offered. Fishing and swimming are available at Heritage Hills as well. Pets are welcome. As of January 2010, standard pull-through or back-in sites with a full hookup are $29 a night and standard pull-through or back-in sites with water and electricity are $26 a night. Visitors can contact the campground directly for pricing and availability of tent sites.
