The town of Burkburnett, Texas, started as ranch owned by Samuel "Burk" Burnett, who later sold it to developers. They created a small town and named it after Burnett, at the suggestion of Teddy Roosevelt. It later became an oil boomtown. The area attracts outdoor enthusiasts with fishing and boating on the Red River. Oklahoma also is a short drive away.

Burkburnett RV Park is in the northeast part of town near the Red River. Casinos, museums and River Creek Park Golf Course are a few miles away. Rocking "A" RV Park is in Vernon, about 40 miles west of Burkburnett. On-site features include restrooms, bath houses, an outdoor pool, laundry, store, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, DVD rental and a kids' playground. Sites include full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electricity. Some sites have cable TV and Wi-Fi options. There is a shopping center next to the park. Copper Breaks State Park, with fishing, camping and mountain biking, is nearby.

Wichita Bend RV Park

Wichita Bend RV Park is 19 miles south of Burkburnett. There are 28 sites with 30- and 50-amp electric and water hookups, but no sewer. There is a dump site. The park is on the Wichita River.
