RV Parks in Cumberland, MD
Cumberland, Maryland, sits in the western half of the state, close to Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The area surrounding the town has many opportunities for outdoor activities. These include the Dans Mountain Wildlife Management Area, Warrior Mountain State Wildlife Management Area, Rocky Gap State Park, New Germany State Park, and Savage River State Forest. These areas offer visitors the chance to hike, bike, boat, fish, camp, and enjoy the outdoors of western Maryland.

Rocky Gap State Park

East of Cumberland off Interstate 68 is Rocky Gap State Park. This state park has 278 total campsites and 30 campsites that have electrical hook-ups. Other camping amenities include bathhouses, games room, a private beach for swimming, store, and dump station. Rocky Gap State Park also has mini cabins to rent as well. Rocky Gap State Park also has two naturalist programs, "Scales and Tales" and "Critter Encounter." Both feature reptiles, as well as birds that have been injured and cannot be re-released back into the wild.

New Germany State Park

West of Cumberland, Maryland, past Frostburg is New Germany State Park. Another Maryland state park, New Germany has 39 campsites available for reservation. The park also has bathrooms and showers, a dump station, picnic tables, and grills. Boaters can use the boat ramp to launch their craft. During the winter months the park maintains cross-country ski trails, and ski equipment is available to rent.

Savage River State Forest

Next to New Germany State Park is Savage River State Forest. This state forest has 52 campsites available that can fit recreational vehicles. These are primitive sites and few amenities exist. However, the park offers a base for biking, hiking, boating, canoeing, hunting, and cross-country skiing within Savage River State Forest.

Hidden Springs Campground

A commercial campground located in Flintstone, Maryland, Hidden Springs has 147 campsites available, as well as cabins to rent. The campground also has a swimming pool, full hook-ups, dump station, showers, bathrooms, playground, laundry facility, volleyball, basketball, badminton, miniature golf, shuffleboard, a game room, and a stocked fishing pond. A store on the property sells food, firewood, ice, and camping supplies.
