Medora is located on the Little Missouri National Grassland, approaching the border North Dakota shares with Montana. The area is home to several RV parks, each offering a unique blend of amenities with close proximity to local recreation. Theodore Roosevelt National Park is 6 miles from Medora and offers visitors the most diverse range of opportunities for outdoor activities in the area.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park

At Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Juniper Campground and Cottonwood Campground accommodate RVs or trailers. Hookups are not provided at these campgrounds. Per Park Service regulations, RV campers should dispose of waste water in a catch bucket or holding tank while using the sites. Seasonal dump stations are available in Medora and at the Juniper Campground entrance. Reservations are not accepted with sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Senior discounts are given to park patrons. During good weather, visitors can bike along the paved roads as they wind through the badlands and cross-country ski or snowshoe in winter.

Red Trail Campground

Red Trail Campground offers live music each night and more than 100 sites for RV campers. Pull-through sites are provided, and reservations are recommended if you want to be sure to secure a 50-amp electric site or shaded site, as they are limited in number. The campground features free Wi-Fi service and cable is available. Charcoal grills and picnic tables are stationed at each site. Travelers have a choice in the tier of services they prefer: electric, electric and water or electric, water and sewer service. The facilities include a dump station, showers, laundry area, grocery and souvenir shop. For swimming, the Medora city pool is close by and an on-site playground is provided for the kids. Hiking trails and guided ranger programs are only a short drive away at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Medora Campground

Medora Campground offers more than 200 sites for tent and RV camping under towering cottonwood trees. The sites offer 20-, 30- or 50-amp service. Full hook ups include water and sewage. The facilities provide showers, a laundry area and an on-site convenience store. The park sits adjacent to the town swimming pool and tennis courts, where visitors are welcome to play. Once you have a home base, head over to Theodore Roosevelt National Park to enjoy canoeing on the Little Missouri River or to observe large mammals and native birds.
