Enjoy the natural beauty of the Sonoran Desert or spend a few days exploring the 50 miles of hiking and biking trails within the 16,000 acre South Mountain Park and Preserve located on the south side of Phoenix.

Desert's Edge RV Village

Desert's Edge RV Village features nearly 200 RV sites with full water, sewer and electric hook-ups. Park amenities include restrooms, laundry facilities, heated outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, children's playground, basketball court and a pet grooming station. Each site is allowed up to two pets although "dangerous" breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Dobermans are not permitted in the park. Nearby attractions include the Death Valley Rock Art Center--two miles away. This center is a museum and a nature preserve covering 47 acres. Visitors can travel a quarter-mile trail on the center's grounds where ancient petroglyphs and native wildlife can be viewed.

Desert Sands RV Park

The Desert Sands RV Park has over 70 sites--55 of which feature full water, sewer and electric hook-ups. Each site has a concrete pad and room for two extra vehicles. Park amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, BBQ area and picnic tables. Dogs and cats are welcome although "dangerous" breeds such as Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans or wolf mixes are not permitted. The Thunderbird Conservation Park in the Hedgepeth Hills is just five miles away. This park covers 1185 acres and features more than 15 miles of trails suitable for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

Desert Shadows RV Resort

Desert Shadows is an RV resort with 638 sites available for long-term and short-term rentals. Full water, sewer, electric and cable TV hook-ups are provided, as well as wireless Internet service. Amenities within the park include restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, indoor heated pool and jacuzzi, fitness room, shuffleboard courts and an indoor walking track. Free coffee and ice is provided in the main lobby and the park's clubhouse features gas grills available to guests at no additional charge. The resort also features organized Bingo tournaments, dances, potlucks and group exercise classes for long-term residents and visitors.
