Known for its variety of restaurants, Kansas City also includes many steakhouses that can offer visitors a number of great meals while in the city. The restaurants are also close to several nature areas and recreational attractions, including the 1,250-acre Shawnee Mission Park, Loose Park and Fleming Park, which has 7,800 acres of lakes, camping areas, wildlife and the Burroughs Audubon Library.

Benton's Steak and Chop House

Located on the 20th floor of the downtown Westin Crown Center, Benton's Steak and Chop House is a scenic place to enjoy your meal, with picturesque views of the Kansas City landscape. Benton's includes a wide variety of menu items ranging from smoked Alaskan sable fish to lamb, king crab legs, wild salmon and a large selection of steaks. Entrees include chateaubriand, lobster tails, stuffed semi-boneless poussin and slow-roasted prime rib. The steakhouse menu also includes several choices of wines as well as desserts and a cocktail menu, and there is a lounge area open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with live jazz music. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner and is available for private parties and special events, with accommodations for up to 180 people, serving breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are a number of activities close to the steakhouse, including the Crossroads Art District, the Kansas City Zoo and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Prime Rib Grill by Hereford House

The Prime Rib Grill by Hereford House, in downtown Kansas City, is known for serving great steaks and seafood in a casual dining environment. Specializing in slow-roasted prime rib, the Prime Rib Grill also features items such as appetizers, salads, soup, sandwiches, side dishes, desserts, a kid's menu, beverages and a wine list. Entrees include orechetta pasta, pepper tuna steak, filet mignon, prime rib and Kansas City strip steak. The restaurant also includes a lunch menu with items including prime rib sloppy joes, beef stroganoff and chicken fried steaks, along with sides such as housemade steak fries, dill potato salad and sauteed asparagus. Open every day except Monday for lunch and dinner, the Prime Rib Grill also provides catering services and has dining facilities for special events and parties accommodating as many as 150 people.

Jess and Jim's Steak House

Founded in 1938, Jess and Jim's Steak House is open every day for lunch and dinner and specializes in providing hand-cut Angus beef steaks. It has won many awards for its quality food and service. Jess and Jim's Steak House features a variety of items ranging from appetizers and salads to house specialties, a la carte items, burgers, sandwiches and a special seniors menu. Entrees include broiled shrimp scampi, porterhouse steaks, grilled boneless chicken breast, fried shrimp and K.C. strip steak. The steakhouse also offers a lunch menu, a kid's menu, a full wine list and a banquet menu, with facilities that can accommodate up to 70 people for private parties and special events. You can also order steaks online and purchase gift certificates for meals and food items.
