Campgrounds in Bushnell, Florida

Campgrounds in Bushnell, Florida
The rural community of Bushnell provides a natural setting among some of Florida's historic and natural sites. Dade Battlefield State Park marks the location where the Second Seminole War began in 1835, when two companies under the command of Major Dade were ambushed. The men who fought and died on both sides of this conflict are remembered here, just as veterans of America's subsequent wars are laid to rest and remembered on the gently rolling, manicured hills of Florida National Cemetery south of Bushnell. Hikers may experience the landscape encountered by the early settlers of Florida in several nearby tracts of the Withlacoochee State Forest, while anglers may visit the Florida Bass Conservation Center, the major freshwater fish hatchery in the state, which provides Florida largemouth bass and other species for stocking through Florida and beyond.
