Grantsville, Maryland, may not be a well-known town, but it is popular with those who like the outdoors. Big Run State Park and New Germany State Park are popular destinations. Travelers have access to swimming, fishing, boating, hiking trails and other outdoor activities. Some of the RV parks in Grantsville are connected to the state parks.

Bumble Bee RV Park & Campground

The Bumble Bee RV Park & Campground is only 30 minutes from Grantsville and is one of the only dedicated RV parks in the area. Full hookup sites come with 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric hookups, water and sewer. The RV park welcomes pets and provides restrooms and showers for guests. Activities at the RV park include miniature golf, paintball, access to whitewater rafting, horseback riding and other outdoor activities.

Big Run State Park

Big Run State Park allows RV camping, but only with a permit. Guests are encouraged to get there as early as possible since the park doesn't accept reservations on campsites. Reservations are only accepted on especially the camper cabins. Guests have access to restrooms, picnic shelters, swimming and fishing. The only type of camping allowed is primitive camping without water or electricity, and there are no amenities for RVs.

Savage River State Forest

The Savage River State Forest is one of the largest state parks in Maryland and while it doesn't boast an RV park, it does allow RV camping. The tent spots don't come with water or electric hookups, but the primitive spots do work for RVs, especially if you have a water tank and generator. The park boasts more than 10 miles of trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, a boat launch, swimming, fishing and canoeing.

New Germany State Park

Nearly 40 campsites are available at the New Germany State Park, and all spots are suitable for RVs. Campers have access to restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, a boat launch and dump station. The park has outdoor activities, including canoeing, swimming, fishing, hiking trails and a nature center. The park rents canoes and paddleboats and has cabins for rent. While there aren't any special RV hookups, the campground does offer both pull-through and back-in sites.
