Cottonwood, Arizona, is as rich in RV camping options as it is in local natural escapes. Cottonwood is home to Dead Horse Ranch State Park and Verde River Greenway State Natural Area. These two resources are adjacent to one another and offer different outdoor experiences. Dead Horse Ranch has wilderness areas with modern facilities, camping and relief stations. Verde River is kept in its natural state and has no camping or restroom facilities.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park

Visitors to Dead Horse Ranch State Park should plan to arrive early. The sites cannot be booked in advance. Expect to find more than 100 spots with water and 30- or 50-amp service. Pull-through sites are available that fit up to 40-foot vehicles and 65-foot truck and trailer combinations. The facilities include restrooms, hot showers, a dump station, and picnic areas and shelters. Travelers can use the visitor center for local information and trail details. Dead Horse has long and short hiking trails and mountain biking is allowed. The Verde River Greenway offers birdwatching; the park is home to a wide variety of wildlife. River and lagoon canoeing and kayaking are permitted.

Rio Verde RV Park

Rio Verde has 30 acres and 68 sites, all with full-service hook-ups and the option for cable television and phone utilities. Guests can anticipate setting up their home away from home in a wooded area, on a hillside or in a spot with views of the water. The property is situated overlooking the Verde River Valley. Verde River Greenway State Natural Area is three miles from Rio Verde and offers visitors the chance to hike along the water, soak their feet, wade along shore, and explore the waters by canoe.

Turquoise Triangle RV Park

Turquoise Triangle RV Park has sites set among large trees and flower gardens. Sites offer water, sewer, cable, Wi-Fi, and 30- and 50-amp electric services. The park has 65 sites and can accept 40-foot vehicles. A laundry area and shower rooms are provided, along with a community lounge, so family members can get out and socialize or catch a favorite television program. Travelers will find many stores within walking distance, making finding groceries and supplies easier and less expensive. Turquoise Triangle is only three miles from Dead Horse Ranch, where you can bike along roadways within the park or mountain bike along trails both within the park and into the Verde Valley.
