Carrollton, Kentucky, is a small community near the Indiana and Ohio borders, where the Ohio and Kentucky rivers meet. The region is known for horse breeding and racing, and there are many stables to be found. Canoeing and kayak-touring can be had on the Ohio River, which also offers opportunities for fishing.

General Butler State Park

The General Butler State Park offers visitors sites without or with hookups (50-amp electric, water and sewer). The park has a shower and rest room facility located in the central service building and a laundry room on the premises. Pets are allowed. The campground is open year-round, but visitors are asked to make reservations during the winter months. General Butler State Park has both hiking and mountain biking trails, including the 4.5 mile loop Fossil Trail.

Little Farm on the River RV Resort

The Little Farm on the River RV Resort, about 35 miles from Carrollton, offers both "dry" and full-hookup sites. Hookups include 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. There are sites for all sizes of RV and those with slide-outs. Pets are welcome but need to remain on leashes. The resort is open all year and offers daily, weekly and monthly rates. Showers, a laundry, Wi-Fi, guest room and picnic areas are available for guest use. Nearby attractions include the Red Wolf Sanctuary in nearby Rising Sun, Indiana.

River Ridge Park

The River Ridge Park offers daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal rates. RVs up to 30 feet in length can be accommodated, and there are a range of sites, including riverfront parking areas. Hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. The park has a general store, showers, playground, horseshoes, boat launch, laundry room and fishing. Pets are allowed if on leashes. The River Ridge Park is about 50 miles from Carrollton and 30 miles from Cincinnati.
