Livingston, Texas is a small community in the east-central part of the state. The nearby Lake Livingston has fishing, swimming and boating opportunities, and the region hosts an annual Crappiethon fishing tournament. If you're interested in history, you can take a side trip to Swartout, a former river village that is now a ghost town. Livingston is also within a day's drive of Houston or Galveston for those seeking urban adventures.

Lake Livingston State Park

The Lake Livingston State Park is run by the state of Texas and offers visitors sites with electric (50-amp), water and sewer hookups. There are dry sites as well (those without hookups) if you have a self-contained RV. Most sites are on the water, and reservations for the campground can be made online at reserveamerica.com. There is fishing on Lake Livingston, either from shore or boat, and visitors can try catching crappie, perch, catfish and bass. Guided hikes and walks are led by rangers, and guests have the option to fish with a ranger as well.

Sandy Creek Resort and Campground

The Sandy Creek Resort and Campground offers sites on the water with full hookups and a range of services. Site hookups include 30- or 50-amp electric, water and sewer. There are sites for all sizes of RVs. The campground has hot showers, private toilets, a general store and bait shop, boat launch, marina, swimming area and guest house. The campground is on a peninsula that extends into Lake Livingston, allowing for convenient shore fishing in the lake. Pets are allowed. The Piney Woods surround the campground.

Eagles Rest RV Park

The Eagles Rest RV Park offers visitors daily, weekly and seasonal stay rates, along with a range of services. Hookups include 50-amp electric, water and sewer. The campground has a private walking trail and private fishing for guests. Hot showers and private bathrooms are on the grounds. There is a billiards room and a picnic area. Pets are allowed but need to be on leashes while in the campground. Lake Livingston is less than 15 minutes away.
