Indianapolis, Indiana, has much to offer visitors, from the famous Indianapolis 500 race to the historic Crown Hill Cemetery or James Whitcomb Riley House, and a stay at one of the nearby RV parks is an excellent way to settle in and enjoy the city. Indianapolis is home to the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Indians. Visitors of all ages can enjoy attractions such as the Indianapolis Zoo, White River Gardens and Children's Museum. RV parks with varying amenities are located around the city to provide for both short- and long-term stays.

Lake Haven Retreat

Located just south of downtown Indianapolis, Lake Haven Retreat is within 7 miles of the Indianapolis Airport and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This RV campground offers 110 full RV hookups for visitors to the area. A recreation hall, laundry facilities, restrooms and showers are located on site. Visitors can also enjoy catch-and-release fishing in the 5-acre stocked lake, or simply relax along the beach area, open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Wireless high-speed Internet and cable are complimentary. Rates as of January 2010 for a family of two adults and three children are $27 a day or $162 a week for 30- or 50-amp hookups. Monthly rates are $350 to $400 for a 30-amp hookup or $400 to $450 for a 50-amp hookup. Additional storage is available for $45 a month. Reservations can be made by phone Monday through Saturday.

Indy Lakes

Indy Lakes is located on the south side of Indianapolis at 465 and State Road 37. The highlight of this RV site is the ample opportunity for recreational fishing. Three stocked pay-fishing lakes are located on the site with catfish, carp, flatheads and crappie. Fishing contests and pools are held regularly. Visitors who are interested in exploring more of the area will find downtown Indianapolis only a short drive away. A convenience store and discount bait and tackle shop located at Indy Lakes can serve all your needs throughout your stay. A game room is available on site as well. Visitors with dogs are welcome at select sites and will have access to a dog run. Automatic security gates and more than 25 security cameras throughout the area offer guests a feeling of safety here. As of January 2010, a full RV hookup for a family with two adults and two children costs $24 a day or $144 a week for both 30-amp and 50-amp service. Monthly rates are $350 for 30-amp service or $395 for 50-amp service. High-definition cable and DVR is available for an additional fee.

Indianapolis KOA

The Indianapolis KOA is located just east of the city. All the major attractions of downtown Indianapolis are less than 30 minutes from the site. This RV park offers free wireless Internet and 50-amp service. Telephone services are available for an additional fee. Amenities include a playground, pool, restrooms with showers, 24-hour laundry facilities, bike rentals, a group kitchen and gathering room and a store on site stocked with RV supplies. Propane and a dump station are available as well. Guests with dogs can enjoy the large dog park on property. There is 24/7 security at the Indianapolis KOA. As of January 2010, rates for two adults range from $40.49 to $67.63 for a deluxe site, $36.34 to $57.94 for a pull-through or back-in site with full hookup and $34.78 to $49.87 for a pull-through or back-in site with water and electric only. Monthly sites run $495 per month for water, electric, sewer and Wi-Fi. Rates here fluctuate with the season. Stays during the Indianapolis 500 are the most expensive.
