Once you park your rig at an RV park in Monroe, Louisiana, you've got a lot of options for outdoor recreation. Hop on I-20 and head west, and within an hour or two you'll have your choice of the biking the 10-mile-long Lincoln Parish Park Trail, hiking up to the highest point in Louisiana on the very low elevation Driskill Mountain or fishing in the 25-mile long Lake Bistineau.

Shiloh RV Resort offers level pull-through sites right off I-20. You may want to take a night off from your RV and see if you can withstand a night at the allegedly haunted Myrtles Plantation less than a mile away. If ghosts aren't your idea of a good time stay at Shiloh and enjoy a large lake stocked with fish. The park also features a playground for the kids, a swimming pool and hot tub. There's full hookup with 30/50-amp service, laundromat, clubhouse and camp store. Pack your best fishing equipment because the D'Arbonne Bayou inside the D'Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge is just five miles away.

Pavilion Park

Pavilion Park is a West Monroe campground that offers full hookups with 30/50-amp electrical service, water, sewer and cable TV. You can enjoy a swimming pool that is 36 by 18 feet or drop your line in on-site Lake Katherine as long as you follow the catch-and-release policy. Facilities include two laundromats, each with three washers and dryers, and a bathhouse rated 9.5 by Good Sam. Other features include a playground, an RV supply store and activity room. D'Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge is just 10 minutes away, and opportunities for boating and fishing inside the Jackson-Bienville Wildlife Management Area are just an hour away.

Pecanland RV Park

Pecanland RV park offers 36 RV sites conveniently located just off I-20. Facilities include a bathhouse, laundromat and lounge. Pecanland is centrally located between Russell Sage State Wildlife Management Area, Ouachita State Wildlife Management Area, D'Arbonne National Wildlife Refuge and Jackson-Bienville State Wildlife Management Area. A bit further away is the Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge. Recreation in these areas includes camping, fishing, swimming and hiking. The RV park is very nicely shaded with large trees, and pets are welcome as long as they are kept leashed.
