Nestled in Texas Hill Country and settled by the Germans, Fredericksburg, Texas, is a destination for campers. Area activities include hiking, fishing, swimming, tubing and rock climbing. There are plenty of local attractions rich in cultural and architectural heritage and include downtown Fredericksburg, Luckenbach and Wildseed Farms and Trade Days. Many campgrounds in and within the surrounding area accommodate RVs, tents and cabins.

Fredericksburg KOA

Fredericksburg KOA has accommodations for tent sites, RV sites and cabins. The camp has 50-amp service, cable TV, Internet connection and swimming pool. The Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park is 6 miles away. Recreational activities include climbing, hiking and biking at Enchanted Rock State Park (20 miles) or fishing, swimming and tubing on the Guadalupe River.

Guadalupe River RV Resort

Guadalupe RV resort has cabin accommodations as well as RV sites. The resort has a general store, a stocked fish pond with waterfall and a game room with pool tables and arcade. RV site amenities include full hookups, 30/50-amp service, pull-through sites and laundry facilities. There are three swimming pools as well as an Internet connection and playground. The cabins have fully equipped kitchens and sleep from two to five. Activities include swimming, fishing, hiking, volleyball and bicycling.

Armadillo Farm Campground

The Armadillo Farm Campground has primitive tent sites, cabins, cottage and RV sites. The tin cabin and cottage accommodates two people while the RV sites have full hookups with 30/50-amp service. The cabins are rustic and do not have indoor plumbing, but shower facilities are available on-site. Activities include hiking and bicycling or campers can explore the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park & Historic Site (about 30 minutes away) for more activities like fishing and swimming. Visitors to the state park can also view wildlife and see Texas longhorn cattle.
