Water Activities
There is a one-mile stretch of shoreline available on Deep Creek Lake on State Park Road where you can launch a boat. The launch is open most of the year except when ice and cold weather are potentially hazardous. If you are interested in fishing, Deep Creek Lake is stocked with a variety of fish including yellow perch, bass, trout and walleye. A small arm of the lake, known as Meadow Mountain Run, is great for canoeing. A secluded marsh, osprey nesting platforms and forest trees hugging the edge of the water will greet you as you travel the two and a half miles of Meadow Mountain Run. Park authorities recommend morning canoe trips because open stretches of water may leave paddlers vulnerable to windier conditions later in the day.

Trails
Being located at Meadow Mountain gives visitors several great hiking options. You can travel with a guide or go hiking or biking on your own. Pets are allowed on trails as long as they are kept on a leash. Fire Tower trail is only a half mile long but is very strenuous and difficult. It begins at the entrance of Meadow Mountain Campground and is an up and down trip, going about 500 feet in elevation toward the top of the mountain. Indian Turnip Trial is a winding two and a half mile long footpath. You are very likely to see black bears, ruffed grouse and other wildlife when you walk or bike this trail. Meadow Mountain Trail isfive and a half miles long and has partial views of the lake. Halfway through the path it intersects with the Fire Tower Trail and three quarters of the way through you will run into the Indian Turnip Trail. This longest trail in the park takes you through Harwood forest trees such as hickory, oak and maple and is a perfect spot for viewing park wildlife such as whitetail deer.
