Miramar, Florida is approximately 18 miles north of Miami. For outdoor enthusiasts, Miramar is a one hour drive by car from the start of a 28-mile hike through Big Cypress National Reserve. Described by the park service as designed for advanced hikers, the trail offers a rest area for overnight camping. At the conclusion of the hike, visitors may return to Miramar to enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the town's restaurants, which include some places that specialize in Italian cuisine.

Antonio's Pizzeria

Located 59 miles from the start of the trail at Big Cypress, family-owned-and-operated Antonio's Pizzeria has served the Miramar community for more than 30 years. The menu begins with a variety of appetizers like the antipasto with fresh Italian meats and cheeses or the baked clams. The restaurant serves a create-your-own pasta dish that consists of a choice of tomato, marinara, meat or clam sauce over spaghetti or ziti with meatballs or Italian sausage. Dinners include the chicken, veal or eggplant Parmesan with a side of ziti or spaghetti. Antonio's Pizzeria is open for lunch Monday through Saturday and for dinner nightly.

Sal's Italian Ristorante

Sal's Italian Ristorante is a chain of Italian restaurants in the Palm Beach area. The Miramar location is 51 miles from the trail at Big Cypress National Preserve. To start the meal, the restaurant serves nine appetizers, such as the house specialty mussels sauteed in garlic and wine and served in a marinara sauce. One of the restaurant's dinner specialties is the cavatelli contessa--chicken with mushrooms, green peas and basil in marinara sauce served with cavatelli pasta. The bar serves a selection of beers by the bottle and seven house wines by the glass or carafe. Sal's Italian Ristorante in Miramar is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Massimo's Italian Cuisine

Massimo's Italian Cuisine is 54 miles from the Big Cypress National Preserve. For dinner, appetizer selections include prosciutto ham with fresh cantaloupe, fried calamari and tuna carpaccio with onion and capers in a lemon sauce. One of the chef's specialty dishes is the lasagna baked with a special meat sauce that Massimo's is known for. In addition to pasta, the restaurant serves grilled rack of lamb, chicken breast, Cornish hens, rib eyes, tuna and salmon steaks and grouper. For dessert, try the profiteroles or the tiramisu. The restaurant features a full bar with beer, wine, cocktails and after dinner drinks. Massimo's Italian Cuisine is open daily for lunch and dinner.
