Chowning's Tavern

Chowning's Tavern is located in Colonial Williamsburg's historic village; therefore, it's styled after an 18th century pub, complete with serving wenches and period musicians. The menu is small, but there are several good barbecue choices. Try the Virginia-style pork barbecue, Josiah's barbecued rib bits or the Carolina-style pork barbecue on a bun. Chowning's Tavern features a fun atmsophere, as there's live music and waitresses teaching you 18th century games while they serve. Don't miss the tavern's specialty drinks, such as Witches' Revenge (rum, apple brandy and pineapple juice) or Market Square Sunset (rum, orange, pineapple, and cherry juice). Chowning's Tavern is a great place to relax after a day kayaking on the River York. Reservations are recommended.
