These sites place travelers near the beaches of South Padre Island where they can swim, boat and go offshore for deep sea fishing excursions. The Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge is also in the Rio Grande Valley and there visitors can explore 12 miles of hiking trails as well as very scenic biking areas.

Rio RV Park in Brownsville is a full hook-up RV resort that offers sewer, water and 30/50 amp electrical connections. Guests will find 10 pull-through sites and escort parking is provided at arrival. Rio RV is an amenity-filled park that includes a very large heated pool and spa. Other features include a laundry, showers and private dressing rooms, a game room, auditorium, kitchen and state. Wireless Internet service is provided along with a modem room for those who want more security. One mile to the east is a paved bike trail and the site also includes a nature trail. Other on-site recreation includes shuffleboard, a playground for the kids and a driving range. Opportunities for fishing are presented with the Gulf of Mexico, Laguna Madre, Arroyo Colorado and the River Grande River itself.

Breeze Lake Campground

Breeze Lake Campground is located in the Rio Grande community of Brownsville, Texas. These are full hookup RV sites with 30/50 amp electricity and cable television. Guests have a choice of shaded sites or sites that allow them to bask in the Texas sun. Breeze Lake provides ample opportunity for fishing and swimming or guests can opt for the heated outdoor pool. Facilities include a laundromat and rec hall. Nearby attractions include golf courses and the Gladys Porter Zoo as well as plenty of beach coastline for skiing, fishing and swimming.

Hummingbird Cove

Hummingbird Cove can be found in the lower Rio Grande Valley and features sites with 30/50 amp electrical service in a large pull-through spaces. This RV campground is dedicated to appealing to the anglers who come into the valley with a boat launch and lighted fishing piers. Facilities include a laundromat and exercise room. Activities range from line dancing to game nights. Pets are welcome as long as guests keep them leashed and attended. It is recommended to bring a laptop because most sites can receive wireless Internet service. The beaches of South Padre Island are just a few miles away from the park and offer the chance for watersports ranging from swimming to windsurfing to parasailing.
