Elizabeth, Colo., is about 30 miles southeast of Denver. It began as a mill town in 1855 and a gold rush followed in 1858, but it never became a boom town. Residents can commute to Denver and Colorado Springs for work. The area has camping, hiking, fishing, golf and cycling among its outdoor activities.

Denver Meadows RV Park

The park has nearly 300 sites, with water, electric hookups and sewer at all spots. Selected spots hold larger campers up to 40 feet. The park is open throughout the year and has a curfew in effect, starting at 10 p.m,. to ensure all guests have a quiet and peaceful place to sleep. There is free Wi-Fi. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available.

South Park Mobile Home and RV Park

The age 55-plus park is near the banks of Bear Creek. The park is quiet and basic, with full hookups and concrete pads. There is an on-site heated pool and biking trails are nearby. Most guests stay for an extended period of time, such as through the summer or during the winter, and there are full-time residents.

Colorado Heights RV Resort

The resort is a paid, members-only park that's also open to guests. The resort holds events that include a dinner on Mother's Day and Father's Day, and theme parties on different weekends. The resort has a lake and miniature golf course.

Jellystone Park Camp Resort

Guests at the Jellystone Park Camp Resort have access to a laundry room, showers, bathrooms and a camp store. The park also has bike trails, hiking trails, Frisbee golf, a swimming pool, dog walk and golf cart rentals. The park offers 30- and 50-amp hookup sites.
