Bitar's, originally opened as a Middle Eastern bakery, has expanded to three locations serving a variety of food, including shish tawuk, which is a chicken kebob dish well-known in Syria. The Bitar's in south Philadelphia, still retains the feel of a small bakery shop, comes along with some Middle Eastern decor. Side dishes offered at the restaurant include baba ghanj, hummus and stuffed grape leaves. Ordering is available online.

Leila Cafe
Leila Cafe screams Middle Eastern authenticity, from the Arabic decorations on the walls to the hookahs available for customers. On the menu are the standard Middle Eastern dishes including gyro and Syrian shawarma sandwiches, but Leila offers unique combos. On the appetizer menu is a dish called Leila's Maza, which is a combination of tabouleh, hummus, baba ghanuj, grape leaves and pita bread.

Kamal's Middle Eastern Specialties is part of the Reading Terminal Market, a busy farmer's market/bazaar located in a former train terminal in downtown Philadelphia.
