Harvard is in northern Illinois, about 60 miles from Chicago and about 10 miles from the Wisconsin border. Travel up to Lake Geneva and enjoy forests of maple trees turning colors in the fall. Big Foot Beach State Park boasts 272 acres of land and beaches. Hop in the car and head southwest to get to Rock Cut State Park. With more than 3,000 acres and two lakes, there's swimming, fishing, ice skating and ice fishing available. Forty miles of hiking trails and 23 miles of mountain biking trails also surround the area.

China Buffet

China Buffet offers a casual dining atmosphere, healthy portions and reasonable prices. Menus cover beef, pork, poultry and vegetable noodle and rice dishes. Entrees include sweet and sour pork, mandarin chicken, crab Rangoon, beef with broccoli, chow mein, chop suey and moo goo gai pan. A buffet is available during dining times.

King Dragon

Seven miles north and across the Wisconsin border delivers you to King Dragon. Open for lunch and dinner, menus include beef, chicken, pork, seafood and vegetable dishes. Entrees include lobster lo mein, barbecue spare ribs, moo shu beef, orange flavor chicken, rib tips, roast pork, scallops, Singapore mai fun, vegetable delight and curry beef. South Pines Golf Center is in the area and offers an automatic tee-up system on the driving range.

Chop Suey Hut

Chop Suey Hut is a hit with locals because of its large portions. Menus cover beef, chicken, seafood, vegetable and pork offerings. Dishes include bacon-wrapped chicken liver, beef chop suey, moo shu pork. Hong Kong chicken, Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken and sweet and sour chicken. Call for details on buffet as it is offered periodically. This restaurant is a 12-mile drive from Harvard. Local Merry Man Fields is 82 acres of paved path if you're looking for a walk.
