On the cliffs of the Hudson Highlands, at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, West Point is home to the famous United States Military Academy. Many visitors arrive via the Palisades after skiing in the Catskills, or by boat or kayak on the Hudson River. The adjacent town of Highland Falls offers a variety of friendly restaurants just past the Academy's South Gate.

Thayer Dining Room

The Thayer Dining Room in the historic Thayer Hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in an elegant atmosphere. After visiting the carving station or chocolate buffet, diners enjoy views of the West Point campus through the dining room's Gothic windows. After a weekend kayaking the Hudson River, the Thayer Dining Room is the perfect stop for a Sunday Champagne Brunch; the Thayer was awarded "Best Brunch in the Hudson Valley" from 2001 to 2008.

Worth the walk to the end of town, Andy's Restaurant only has about 15 seats, but the diners leave happy.
