Romanian Restaurants Near Atlanta, Georgia

The capital of Georgia, Atlanta was 537,958 as of July 2008. Despite its urban atmosphere, the city is home to a numerous parks, such as Piedmont Park, Woodruff Park and Grant Park. The Atlanta area also offers a variety of dining options to enjoy after a day in the park. Among the many establishments are even a number of restaurants that serve Romanian cuisine.

Astoria

Located in the town of Suwanee, Georgia, Astoria is approximately 25 miles from Piedmont Park, which features activities like jogging, biking, swimming and fishing. The entire menu at Astoria draws its inspiration from Romanian cuisine. A specialty of the house, the Varza Calita cu Carnat is Romanian sausage served with sauteed onions and sauerkraut. Another specialty is the pork stew served over polenta and topped with feta cheese and an egg.

For dessert, try the Romanian crepes with a choice of jam or cheese and raisins. The bar serves more than 20 varieties of Romanian wine as well as Romanian and Russian beers.

Nikolai's Roof

Established in 1976, Nikolai's Roof is only one mile from Woodruff Park, a six-acre green space in Atlanta. The restaurant's menu focuses primarily on Russian and French cuisine, though flavors of Romanian cuisine are present. An example is the Dutch sardine appetizer served on fries made from Romanian-style polenta with Parmesan cheese. One of the specialty entrees is the marinated wild boar tenderloin served with Jerusalem artichokes and foie gras in an anise sauce.

To accompany the meal, a variety of flavored vodka selections are available as well as more than 1,100 wines. Nikolai's Roof is located on the 30th floor of the Hilton Atlanta. Reservations are required.

Neretva

Located In Marietta, Georgia, Neretva is approximately 15 miles from Grant Park, the oldest park in Atlanta. The restaurant specializes in the cuisine of Eastern Europe, such as Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Romania. Specialties of the house are the Cevapcici (grilled roast beef) and Sudzukice (mild beef sausages). Every entree comes with house-baked, grilled bread and a selection of sauces like the house special cucumber and dill. Its decor is that of a small Eastern European grocer.
