The restaurant serves numerous German entrees, including its specialty jagerschnitzel--a deep-fried, breaded veal cutlet in mushroom sauce. The bar specializes in imported German beers, keeping four on tap in authentic wooden barrels and offering several more by the bottle. Located in Brooklyn, Der Schwarze Kolner is 8 miles from Forest Park and 4 miles from Ridgewood. The restaurant's menu is small, but consists of true German classics like authentic oven-baked pretzels with mustard or hazelnut spread. As an entree, bratwurst is available in two styles--the original grilled classic or served on a roll with curried ketchup. The Chalet Alpina

Established over 25 years ago, The Chalet Alpina is in Forest Hills, New York, approximately 1 mile from Forest Park and 5 miles from Ridgewood. The restaurant's menu serves a variety of dishes from the Alps region of Europe including several German specialties like the featured appetizer goulash soup. A specialty of the house is the Sauerbraten, a type of marinated beef pot roast.
