The City of Fairfax, Virginia is part of the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. In 2009, "Forbes" magazine ranked Fairfax as number three on their list of the top 25 places to live in the United States. Outdoor lovers will enjoy Fairfax's unique Washington and Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park, a 45-mile long, 100 feet wide park with jogging, hiking, biking, skating, and horseback riding trails in a fauna and flora filled setting. If you are visiting the Fairfax area and get a craving for Italian food, there are several options to consider.

Bravo's Italian Bistro

Founded in 1994 by Italian chefs Victor DiVivo and Mike Corero, Bravo's diverse lunch and dinner selections include traditional Italian favorites, such as eggplant parmigiana and homemade ravioli. A happy hour offering half price appetizers is available Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There is also an extensive wine list, beer selection and mixed drink menu. When the weather is nice, guests should consider dining on the outdoor patio, complete with covered umbrella tables. Reservations are suggested but not required.

Vespucci's Fine Dining

Vespucci's restaurant was created as a showcase of the Cooking and Company catering business's most popular dishes in a restaurant setting. The restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, even shipping its seafood directly from the Mediterranean via air cargo in less than 18 hours after being caught. The restaurant foods are 100 percent free of trans-fat and there is a vegetarian menu as well. Musical entertainment in the form of guitarists, singers and pianists can often be heard in the restaurant, and there is even an open mic night for talented amateurs wishing to showcase their skills.

Bellissimo Ristorante

Selected as the 2008 Best of Fairfax Award in the restaurants category by the U.S. Local Business Association, Bellissimo is owned by Chef Samira Hradsky who is also the owner and manager of Food Unites the World Cooking School in Paris, France. Bellissimo offers both a lunch and a dinner menu filled with traditional Italian fare, including homemade pasta dishes, vegetarian dishes and beef, seafood, chicken and veal dishes. Reservations are not required but are recommended. There are two dinner sittings each night.
