San Diego California offers ample sunshine and an abundance of activities for the outdoor enthusiast. Hikers appreciate Mission Trails Regional Park near Kearny Mesa in San Diego. Considered one of the largest urban parks in the United States, it offers rugged hills, valleys and open terrain. Visitors can hike on one of 40 trails which include an advanced route beginning from the bridge off Calle de Vida. Boating or camping on one of its two lakes are additional options. After a long day, hikers can unwind in one of the three Kearny Mesa Thai restaurants.

Thai House Cuisine

Fast and friendly, Thai House is recognizable by its castle façade. The restaurant features a cozy pink and white interior with Thai décor.

Start with appetizers such as papaya-pog-pog; fresh papaya, tomato and green beans in a chili and lime juice. Or, recharge with a light asparagus soup with glass noodles, mushrooms and scallions.

Thai House has an extensive lunch and dinner menu with generous servings. One of the many Thai House specialties is a grilled and marinated half chicken with sweet and sour sauce.

Vegetarian options are plentiful. Sweet crisp noodles are served with bean curd or fried bean curd with tamarind sauce and peanuts.

Both kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible, Thai House accepts reservations and offers private parking. It also accepts major credit cards.

Bangkok West Thai Cafe

With friendly and attentive servers, Bangkok West Thai has a comfortable atmosphere with booth and table seating.

Sit back and enjoy fried boneless chicken wings stuffed with minced chicken, crab meat and silver noodles along with sweet plum sauce. Seafood lovers will relish mussels with lemongrass served in a spicy garlic broth.

Specialties are accompanied with steamed jasmine, or for a little extra, brown rice and vegetable combinations. Numbers next to menu items denote the degree of spiciness.

Vegetarians can substitute meat and seafood for tofu or mock duck in most dishes.

Portions are generous and prices reasonable. Bangkok West accepts major credit cards and reservations. Parking is plentiful in the rear of the restaurant.

Chilies Thai Gourmet

Family-owned Chilies Thai Gourmet restaurant is a small establishment with courteous and attentive servers. The extensive menu is comprised of appetizers, soups, noodles, curries and seafood dishes.

Start with skewered marinated, grilled chicken served with two distinctive dipping sauces. Sample the green curry chicken with coconut milk, vegetables and sweet basil. Add further seasoning from a tray of assorted ingredients set on the table such as sugar, hot peppers and fish sauce.

Vegetarians savor vegetarian egg rolls, fried bean cakes with two dipping sauces, in addition to several Thai style noodle dishes and curries among others.

Chilies Thai accepts credit cards and has private parking available. Dress is casual attire. The restaurant is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible.
