Hampton is a tiny town in upstate New York on the border of Vermont. The town has less than 1,000 residents. For those planning on engaging in water sports or hiking at Crystal Lake or Hills Pond, Hampton is a wise place to stay. All of the best area restaurants are situated outside of Hampton in neighboring Vermont towns.

Red Brick Grill

The Red Brick Grill's menu is focused on traditional Italian food, made with locally grown ingredients. Popular menu items include tagliatelle all Bolognese, misty knoll chicken alla cacciatore, wood-roasted Vermont heritage pork chop, casserole of spinach and house-made ricotta gnocchi, and wood-roasted rushing waters trout. Red Brick also prepares brick-oven Neapolitan-style pizzas. For dessert, choose from tiramisu, ricotta fritters with apple compote, bittersweet chocolate budino, almond biscotti, homemade gelato and honey lavender panna cotta with poached pear. The restaurant is open for dinner Thursday through Sunday.

Fair Haven Inn Restaurant

This Hampton-area restaurant is situated just a few minutes away from the Okemo Mountains and several local ski resorts. Some of the specialties of the house include veal Florentine, chicken Florentine, shell seafood medley, fresh vegetable stir fry, moussaka and peppered pork tenderloin. Fair Haven Inn Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday and for dinner on Sunday. There is also a bed and breakfast on the premises.

Perry's Main Street Eatery

Visitors to Green Mountain College will find Perry's Main Street Eatery a convenient place to stop for a bite. The cuisine is good old-fashioned, home-cooked American diner fare. They are especially known for their breakfasts; allegedly, they have the best eggs, pancakes, omelets, bacon and hot chocolate in the area. Their famous home fries are made from locally grown potatoes. The restaurant's reasonable prices make it one of the most affordable options in the area.
