Econo Lodge Saint Stephen

The Econo Lodge Saint Stephen offers guests an affordable and comfortable stay, conveniently located to a variety of local outdoor attractions, such as the Francis Marion National Forest, Santee Cooper Lake and the Palmetto Trail. Hikers will enjoy the scenic Palmetto Trail that starts at the coast and eventually leads north up to North Carolina. There is camping sites available along the way.

The rooms at the Econo Lodge come with basic amenities such as television, microwave and air conditioning. They do not offer Internet access. Other services include free continental breakfast with coffee, copy and fax services, and a seasonal outdoor pool. The hotel is also pet friendly, allowing dogs under 25 pounds, as of January 2010.

Rice Hope Plantation Inn

For a more authentic South Carolina experience, consider a stay at the Rice Hope Plantation Inn. This 40-room mansion sits along the banks of the Cooper River, framed by oak trees draped in Spanish moss.

They have five spacious guestrooms available for visitors, each featuring either a full or queen size bed. Other amenities include a television, private bathroom and a "comfortable sitting room." All rooms are non-smoking. The inn does not allow pets.

Nearby attractions include the Cooper River and Francis Marion Memorial National Forest.
