Sherman, Texas, is located north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex close to the Texas-Oklahoma state line. It also is close to Lake Texoma, which sits on both sides of the border. There are several RV parks and campgrounds that offer travelers the opportunity to visit and stay by the lake in order to take advantage of fishing, canoeing, swimming, and sightseeing opportunities.

Meadowview Mobile Home and RV Park

Advertising itself as a, "quiet and safe community," Meadowview Mobile Home and RV Park is located in Sherman, Texas on the south side of town. They offer daily, weekly, and monthly rates. Also, Meadowview has storm shelters for guests in case of an emergency, and an office onsite. Nearby are restaurants, local parks, a medical center, a local municipal airport, and a small college.

Eisenhower State Park

This Texas state park is a great base area for campers who are also interested in boating and fishing, as the park sits right on the shore of Lake Texoma. Overnight camping is allowed in Eisenhower State Park, and there are some facilities for recreational vehicles. Some sites only have water available, while others have water and electricity hookups. There are also pull-through sites that provide sewer, water, and electricity hookups. Other services for campers at Eisenhower State Park include dump stations, restrooms, showers, and picnic areas. In addition, the park has boat launching ramp, fishing pier, a boat dock, and a fish-cleaning facility for fishermen and boaters.

To get to Eisenhower State Park, drive north from Sherman 14 miles on U.S. Highway 75.

Gone Fishing RV Resort

Also located on Lake Texoma, Gone Fishing RV Resort has pull-through spaces that are up to 70 feet long and 32 feet wide. It also has laundry facilities, propane, ice, a dumping station, Wi-Fi internet access, free faxing services, and a boat launch. Gone Fishing RV Resort is about 30 miles from Gordonville.
