Located at 6,900 feet in the heart of the San Juan Mountains 20 miles east of Durango, Bayfield is nestled in the Pine River Valley and boasts over 300 days of sunshine every year. Vallecito Lake (about 15 miles) and Navajo Lake (25 miles) are near downtown. The Weminuche Wilderness, San Juan National Forest and Bureau of Land Management lands surround the town and offer hiking, backpacking, camping, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hunting opportunities throughout the year.

Pine Riverside RV Park

Sitting on over 36 acres along the Pine River just west of Bayfield, Pine Riverside RV Park has over 130 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. It features free cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet, showers and laundry facilities. The park welcomes pets. Horse facilities are available for an additional fee. Tent camping is also available.

Located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains, Five Branches Camper Park has over 100 sites with 30- or 50-amp full hookups. It features showers, laundry facilities, Internet access and is pet-friendly. The park backs up to over 460,000 acres of the Weminuche Wilderness Area, has over 27 acres of waterfront property along Vallectio Lake, and is only 4 miles from the Pine River Trailhead. Tent camping is also available. No generators are allowed.
